San Francisco Public Utility Commission, Together with
San Francisco Unified School District, Unveils New Green Stormwater Infrastructure Projects at Two Public Schools

On November 5th, the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) and the San Francisco Unified School District marked the completion of two new green infrastructure projects at two public schools. The projects involved introducing bioretention planters and landscape redesigns, as well as additional greenspace to expand play areas for students. The two projects
were among the first funded by the SFPUC’s 
Green Infrastructure Grant Program activated last year to finance
both public and private projects that improve the management of stormwater runoff.

GI Exchange Member Kansas City Water Recently Marked
Completion & Official Opening of
New West Bottom Green Infrastructure Project

On November 6th, Kansas City Water (KC Water) celebrated the completion of the Central Industrial District (CID)/West Bottoms Green Infrastructure project, as well as the ten year anniversary of its Smart Sewer Program, launched to reduce combined sewer overflows locally. Among the upgrades under the new project are a new drainage system to better control stormwater after heavy rainstorms, as well as a boardwalk with native plants and trees and a permeable paved multi-event space.
