WaterNow Alliance has announced the winners of the 2022 Emerging Leaders Award, and we are thrilled to celebrate Exchange member Meghan Hazer as one of this year’s recipients! The Emerging Leader Award recognizes mid-level water professionals from diverse backgrounds who have demonstrated passion, initiative and promise in advancing change in the areas of sustainability, equity, or community engagement.

In her role as a City Planner at Baltimore City’s Department of Public Works, Meghan is championing health equity within watershed planning for the city, catalyzing the inclusion of health-supportive community factors and socio-economic and racial equity factors into the City’s watershed assessments. This work is creating impact not only for communities in Baltimore, but is also establishing a model that other cities can utilize and implement. As an active member in the Exchange’s Equity Learning Circle, Meghan has presented her work in detail to other public sector water professionals around the country.

The Awards will be presented at WaterNow’s Tap into Resilience Summit, which is being held in Philadelphia on Wednesday, April 13-April 14, 2022. Find more information about the Summit and how to attend here.
