San Mateo County Adopts Sustainable Streets Master Plan to Integrate Green Stormwater Infrastructure with Planned Transportation Improvements

Mar 18, 2021 | GSI Practice

Congratulations to San Mateo County on the adoption of their Sustainable Streets Master Plan last month! The comprehensive plan prioritizes opportunities to integrate green stormwater infrastructure with planned active transportation improvements in order to both mitigate the impacts of climate changes and integrate stormwater management with local priorities, like bike and pedestrian mobility, transit improvements, climate resiliency, etc.

The plan encompasses prioritized projects, climate modeling, 12 project concepts, model sustainable street policies, and an amazing web-based green infrastructure tracking tool. The GI tracking tool is designed to visualize green infrastructure projects plus explore completed projects and associated performance metrics for managing stormwater under current or projected future climate conditions.

Check out this interactive and all-inclusive website of the Master Plan, which includes a detailed overview and access to the full plan, a flip-book, maps, animated graphics, and more.
