Meet AdaptGeo, an impact-driven, geospatial startup co-founded by Mike Wissner (right) and Rob Elliott (left), focused on delivering custom, targeted, and low-cost GIS solutions for green stormwater infrastructure. Built with a mission to support more equitable and effective green infrastructure planning, AdaptGeo leverages spatial data to help communities better understand where and how to invest in GSI.
As new members of the Exchange, AdaptGeo is eager to collaborate with and learn from the network’s deep expertise in equitable GSI implementation. They see strong potential for their spatial analysis tools to complement on-the-ground efforts and are particularly interested in partnering with watershed councils, land trusts, nonprofits, and municipalities.
One of their recent projects with the Public Utilities Administration of Boynton Beach, Florida, demonstrates this approach in action. AdaptGeo developed interactive and static maps to identify high-impact, equity-centered GSI opportunities, aligning with the city’s watershed master plan. Their work visualized key factors such as surface hydrology, tree canopy, and land surface temperature to support informed decision-making.
Looking ahead, AdaptGeo is excited about unlocking the full potential of GIS to enhance local-scale GSI interventions—improving coordination among stakeholders, building community buy-in through intuitive mapping, and strengthening long-term asset management. Join the Exchange network to learn from AdaptGeo and their many initiatives.
