We’re excited to welcome Dr. Jenn Engelke to the Exchange community. Jenn is an Assistant Professor of Landscape Architecture at Virginia Tech, where she teaches Stormwater-Sensitive Design and Construction, integrating ecological principles into the built environment. Her recent work includes designing, building, and researching constructed floating wetlands in Seattle to study plant health, water quality improvements, and benefits for outmigrating juvenile salmon. She also leads the project “Learning Landscapes” at Virginia Tech that uses green infrastructure for education, research, and community engagement. Collaboating across disciplines from ecology and engineering to planning and extension, her work has been supported by partners including King County Waterworks, the Rose Foundation, Puget Soundkeeper Alliance, and the Port of Seattle. Through the Exchange, she’s eager to learn from innovative practices nationwide and globally, explore strategies for funding and implementation, and advance green infrastructure solutions that deliver environmental benefits while fostering a deeper cultural awareness of more-than-human ecosystems. Join the Exchange today to connect with Dr. Engelke and the GSI research at Virginia Tech!
