Welcome West Atlanta Watershed Alliance!

The Exchange is proud to welcome the West Atlanta Watershed Alliance (WAWA) to membership. As the Environmental Justice Workforce Manager, Malaysia Marshall leads Atlanta CREW (Culture-Resilience-Environment-Workforce), a green infrastructure training program focused on building community resilience through workforce development. Since joining the organization in January 2025, she has managed the program and guided its expansion in collaboration with an advisory board where the Exchange is a member.

One of WAWA’s recent green stormwater infrastructure project involved a youth pilot program in Atlanta’s English Avenue neighborhood. Participants worked to maintain the existing bioswale at Kathryn Johnston Memorial Park, gaining hands-on experience in green infrastructure stewardship. The pilot program was made possible through a strong network of community partners, including Partnership for Southern Equity, Robert Reed, R.A.W.LIFE, HEY! Helping Empower Youth, and Annie with the Green Team of English Avenue. Together, these partners provided training, mentorship, nutritious meals, community-building activities, and opportunities for participants to engage directly in neighborhood green infrastructure projects.

Through participation in the Exchange, Malaysia hopes to connect with peers, access valuable resources and case studies, and learn from successful workforce development and training programs across the network. Join the Exchange now as our network continues to develop the best practices for GSI Workforce Development.
