Join the Exchange in welcoming Dr. Lauren Mullenbach to membership! Dr. Mullenbach currently serves as an Assistant Research Scientist at the University of Michigan’s School for Environment and Sustainability, where her work centers on urban environmental justice, green spaces, climate adaptation, and health equity. She also manages the research program for Michigan Sea Grant, a NOAA-funded initiative dedicated to Great Lakes protection through research, education, and outreach. In addition to her university roles, she recently launched People and Planet Consulting LLC, a firm providing social science research and environmental justice training for cities, nonprofits, and state agencies across the U.S.
Her recent work focuses on understanding how green stormwater infrastructure affects residents in Detroit, particularly in the context of green gentrification and the long-term impacts of urban policy. Collaborating with colleagues at the University of Michigan, SEMCOG, and local nonprofits, her team aims to translate research into actionable insights that support equitable GSI planning. Looking ahead, she’s eager to connect with Exchange members working at the intersection of GSI, health, and equity—bridging research with on-the-ground practice—and is inspired by growing efforts to advance environmental justice and health equity through GSI in under-resourced communities. Explore opportunities to join the Exchange to contribute to the GSI equity discussion in your community.
